Take the Next Step is a drop-in community resource center serving people throughout the Skykomish River Valley. Their mission is to offer friendship, help and hope to our neighbors in need. Projects include Teen Parent Support, Summer Camp for Kids, After School Tutoring, and many programs for at risk and homeless kids.

The Rotary Club of Monroe has selected “Take the Next Step” as an ongoing project.  Once a month, Rotary visits Next Step and provides and serves dinner to as many as 110 Next Step clients.

Dinners Make a Difference
"Why do they make such nice food for us?"

At a recent Tuesday night dinner, a young man told me that he had a really bad day and was feeling down.  He went on to say that when he feels that way, he likes to come to the Tuesday Night Dinner because it makes him feel better to be in a positive place. After he was served the delicious roast beef dinner, he asked me who fixed the meal.  I indicated the volunteers in the kitchen made the food.  He then asked, "Why do they make such nice food for us?"  I explained that there are many people in our community who want to help those with needs.  He was blown away, and said having people care enough to make a lovely meal really encouraged him and made him feel so much better. Thank you so much for serving, encouraging, and showing our community cares.
