A big THANK YOU to Hailey, as our outgoing club-president, and a very warm welcome to Stashka, our 2026-2027 president. Stashka ran her first meeting today, and it’s going to be a great year!
Here we grow again! A very warm welcome to our newest Rotarian, Jake Lewis. Jake is with Galaxy Theaters and has already been present at many Rotary functions. We’re so happy to have you Jake, and we’re looking forward to your continued service to our club!
Our speaker today was our very own Mike McConnell, on behalf of Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue (SRFR). He provided a great PowerPoint presentation on all things SRFR, and what our heroes-in-blue do for us every day! Be sure to keep a lookout for your August 4th ballot as SRFR is going out for a levy-lid lift, to restore the tax dollars that they receive to $0.50/$1,000 of assessed value. If your home is worth the median in Monroe of $750,000, this’ll cost you about $15 more/month. VERY WELL WORTH IT, in my opinion!
Speaking of speakers…a big THANK YOU to Sue Skillen, as she’s our speaker coordinator for this Rotary year. It is not an easy job to find speakers for every Rotary meeting, so be sure to give Sue a big pat on the back for her efforts!
Community Events:
July 10th (and every Friday in July) – Music in the Park, Lake Tye
July 18th– Juli Lund with the Compassionate Friends of Snohomish County will host the Annual Walk to Remember.
July 29th – Take the Next Step, volunteers needed!
August 4th– National Night Out Against Crime! The planning is well underway for our 18th year coordinating this event!
August 5th – Rotary Night-Out at the Blueberry Ridge Farm (more details to follow) but this will be a ‘pick all you want’ blueberry night, so bring your friends/family/neighbors, etc.! Our blueberry bushes only produce 5,000 pounds per year, so divided by 35 members = 142 pounds per person.
May 15th, 2027 – The Sky Valley Food Bank will host their first (and only) fundraiser, with the goal of raising $400,000 (you read that right!)! The food bank is looking for sponsors, and we’ll learn much more about the fundraiser in the coming months.
Be sure to join us next week! YOU might even be the star of the show!
