In previous years we raised sufficient funds to complete Monroe Rotary Field.  Designed and built to accommodate children with disabilities, all kids are given the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of playing baseball, no matter what their limitations may be.  The club partners with the Monroe YMCA to coordinate and run the Miracle League, and the City of Monroe provides field maintenance

Funds raised this year will support:

  • Housing Hope – to provide affordable housing in the Sky Valley we will assist in the funding of Monroe Family Village, a 47 unit complex under construction on West Main St.  Additionally we will be engaged in the construction of play equipment for residents of the facility.
  • Monroe Arts Council – Historic Wagner Auditorium requires remodeling of the lobby and bathrooms to continue as the area’s primary public performing arts center.  We have been contributing man-hours, but need significant funding to assist in the completion of the project.
  • Rotary Youth Exchange, provide an opportunity for a Monroe High School student to study abroad, and host a foreign student for a year of study in Monroe, which will benefit the entire student body.

Other on-going community projects of the Monroe Rotary include:

  • Student Scholarships – Awards made to seven students from Monroe and Sultan High Schools who show a strong commitment to community and making their world a better place.
  • Take the Next Step - Once a month we serve a meal to all who need one.  Those in transition, those whose only decent meal that week is one night at Take the Next Step, young and old.
  • Women's Gospel Mission - Helping women in transition get a good meal and some dignity.
  • Cocoon House - Assistance to teenagers who have no place to go. They just need a place to stay, some assistance and guidance on how to be on their own.
  • Sky Valley and Sultan Food Banks - throughout the year, not just at the holidays
  • Monroe YMCA – Funding for Miracle League and other  programs
  • The Rotary Foundation – As a result of its work, Polio is nearly a disease of the past with only 3 countries worldwide reporting any new cases in the last year.
  • Vecinos – Providing assistance to rural Nicaraguan schoolchildren.
  • National Night Out - Partnering with the City of Monroe and local police and fire departments to host the annual event.  This year’s attendance exceeded 4,000 Monroe area residents!
  • Many other organizations that come to us throughout the year needing some assistance to provide help to the local or international communities
  • Next Step Student Mentoring – ongoing guidance to high school students in making educational and career choices, and assistance in attaining their goals.
